I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

GOGI is a business expression of it's founder Dave Boldy's values and intentions. A long-time advocate of outdoor learning for young people, the company's purpose is to create thoughtful, transformative opportunities for young people to Go Outside and Grow Inside.

We aim to be transparent in who we are, what we are offering, what it will cost, and what roles we will and will not play.

We are not fans of hyping up descriptions of outdoor experiences, so we commit to speak plainly and honestly when we describe what we are offering, and what will happen if the weather is rotten or other roadblocks impact our plans. Outdoor adventures are just that - adventures - where half of the fun is responding well to the challenges presented!

Risk is part and parcel of Outdoor Learning - indeed an essential ingredient. GOGI is engaged with the Outdoor Sector in WA, keeping up to date with current standards and practices. We use the Adventure Activity Guidelines (Outdoor Council of Australia) as our safety standard benchmark.

Dave gives back to the outdoor community through voluntary work and peak body engagement making use of his expertise:

• Dave is a founding member of the Bidi Project, a collaboration between ECU and Outdoors WA that seeks to reimagine the future of Outdoor Learning in WA.
• Dave offers his time and expertise  leading 2 SU Australia outdoor programs - Wild Camp and Soultrek. These are wilderness-based leadership training programs for young people, run by a volunteer leader team.

Many years of experience designing and running outdoor programs has led GOGI to a set of practices and processes that create transformative experiences for participants:

• Praxis - action and reflection cycles.
• Circle Meetings - evening meetings using reflective group processes.
• Journalling - semi-structured journals for reflection and learning transfer.
• Slow pedagogy - slowing practices, immersion in nature, seeking awe and wonder.
• A preference for slow paced, longer, expedition / journey style programs with small group structures and thoughtful facilitation.
• A particular love of paddling and hiking as modes of travel.
